1st stop - day trip to Uruguay
Thursday 6th April - day trip to Colonia

As soon as Australia managed to win over Uruguay on penelties to make their way into the World Cup for the first time since 1974 ... we had to do a trip across River Plate to Uruguay. It was at the suggestion of a friend (thanks Billy) that we did not go to the capital, Montevideo but to a little town called Colonia. Colonia is an UNESCO world cultural heritage site. It was founded back in 1680 in a strategic move by the Portuguese to be directly opposite the Spanish in Buenos Aires on the River Plate.

The purpose of the trip to Colonia was for lunch. We found a lovely little Mexican resturant where we had a bite to eat & a glass of wine. I am attempting to look cool but have the soured look having just had a sip of the local drop .... let say that after being spoilt with the wonderful drops in Argentinia that wine from Uruguay just did not match-up ... however, I still managed to drink it !!! Tragic ... well I am a country girl & occasionally we are not that fussy with alcohol !!
After lunch we explored town for a few hours before jumping on the fast ferry back to Buenos Aires.
